Construction Fire Safety Plans (CFSP)
Construction fire safety plans for project-specific site conditions, construction phases, emergency procedures and coordination with adjacent-building reports.
Noven Consulting prepares construction fire safety plans (CFSPs) around the site layout, construction sequence and fire protection arrangements for the project. The plan gives the construction team a documented basis for fire prevention, emergency procedures and coordination during the work.
The plan addresses the protection available at each construction stage and identifies responsibility for implementation and updates.
Site fire prevention and emergency procedures
Depending on the project and agreed scope, the plan addresses:
- Emergency contacts, notification and evacuation arrangements.
- Fire department access and the location of relevant site facilities.
- Fire prevention procedures and storage arrangements.
- Fire protection measures and changes associated with construction phases.
- Coordination of recommendations from a protection of adjacent buildings report.
The City of Vancouver's construction fire safety bulletin provides local background on CFSPs and adjacent-building fire exposure. Submission requirements and the guidance applicable to the project must be confirmed before issue.
CFSP and construction safety plan: what is the difference?
A CFSP focuses on construction fire safety. A broader construction safety plan (CSP) addresses other site safety matters as well. Any CSP assistance is identified in the proposal, alongside the contractor’s responsibility for overall site safety.
The owner and construction team remain responsible for implementing the agreed measures. Changes to the layout, access, storage or construction sequence may require the plan to be reviewed and updated.
Information for a proposal
Send the project location, site and architectural plans, proposed construction phases, anticipated schedule, site access information and contact details for the construction team. Include any authority comments and an existing PAB report or construction safety plan if available.
Transition to building operation
Construction planning and the operational fire safety arrangements for a completed building have different purposes. Any handover or operational-plan work should be identified in the scope. Fire code consulting can help define the related questions.
Request a construction fire safety plan proposal with your site information and intended start of work.
