The analysis helps a project team compare circulation layouts, identify bottlenecks and examine evacuation scenarios before committing to design changes.

Everyday movement and emergency evacuation

Pedestrian flow studies examine normal operation: arrival patterns, queues, crowd density and travel time. Evacuation studies address a different question: how occupants may respond and move toward exits under defined emergency conditions. The objectives, population and assumptions need to be established for each study.

Depending on the agreed scope, the assessment can include:

Model results and limitations
